Tijuana is a thriving, growing city just south of San Diego, California with large industries of manufacturing and tourism. The Tijuana-San Diego border crossing sees over 40,000 people traverse everyday, most of whom are commuters or high school and elementary school students. While problems have existed for a long time related both to Tijuana’s location on the border as well as to the trouble with drug trafficking, it is also the home to many millions of people who go about normal, daily productive lives without incident. Certain areas of the city, as in many cities, have a poor reputation, but most areas are not a cause for concern. Common sense and wise tourist practices, like not carrying large amounts of cash, are all that are required.
The William Hitt Center has been located in Tijuana since 1993. Our location is only two-tenths of a mile south of the U.S. border, and is in a very nice setting where patients and tourists encounter no difficulties. Patients can arrive either by car or on foot, or on one of the shuttles provided by the U.S. motels. Patients may also stay comfortably and safely at the Pueblo Amigo Hotel across the street from our Center. Our office building is provided with reliable parking lot and building security everyday from 8 am to 8 pm.
Return to the border is through a well-lit, well-organized area with both traffic police and extra security personnel, and many other tourists. In our many years of operation, none of our patients has encountered serious difficulties in Mexico when common sense has been used. |
