Passport Information
Updated: Friday, June 5, 2009
U.S. citizens 16 years and older are required to present either a passport or a passport card in order to return to the United States. Citizens who present only a driver's license and copy of their birth certificate at the border will certainly be allowed to re-enter the U.S., but may experience a delay in crossing and will be instructed to apply for a passport. Children 15 years old and younger only need to present a copy of their birth certificate. For information on border document requirements please go to www.getyouhome.gov.
